Self-Defense

These are some of the self-defense techniques illustrated in the book.

This is a very typical cross hand grab attack that might happen in any mall parking lot or elsewhere.

The elbow can be a very powerful weapon and these pictures illustrate just a few of the ways it can be used.

This is a same side hand grab and you could use a grab release technique or in this case a palm strike to the attacker's chin.

There are four fingers of the attacker on the bottom of the wrist and one (the thumb) on top. Work against one instead of four by rolling your hand over the thumb in a circular motion to the outside of the attackers body.  In this case counterclockwise, but if it was a left hand grab you would roll your hand clockwise over the attackers thumb.

Drive the elbow up through the chin.

The palm strike can be very powerful. Use the heel of the hand to impact the attacker's chin.

Continue circling the hand to get completely free and run to safety.

Use the second hand on top of your first to add more force driving the elbow into the solar plexis.

Use all of your strength to drive the heel of your palm through the attacker's chin. Properly done, it will lift the attacker right off his feet. Run to safety.
